Following the release of the NIfTI-1 format, the Data Format Working Group is currently considering many further issues of standardisation and interoperation for neuroimaging data.
Currently, discussion about strategies for assisting the sharing of
data and interoperation of software (for example, by using common
formats, standards and/or convertors) is going on for the following
areas :

The Data Format Working Group welcomes suggestions from the community.
- Experimental Designs (design matrices, experiments, etc.)
- Geometry and Surfaces (this is represented by a new subcommittee)
- Non-linear warps
- Diffusion Data
- Workflows and
- File/Data exchange mechanisms
